Sundance Film Festival, Power & Industry Film Independent Film Makers Lounge

Sundance Film Festival, Power & Industry Film Independent Film Makers Lounge

My Aunt Cathy Tidwell, who is a producer for an online tv series called Crash Pad, called me and was wondering if I could make a surprise cake for an associate of hers for a filmmaker's lounge at the Sundance Film Festival. I was so excited for this opportunity.

The lounge was put on by a company called Power & Industry, Social Media Picture Studios. Cathy gave me their logo and the invitation for the event and gave me creative license to design the cake as I wanted. As you can see below, it turned out absolutely incredible! This is one of my favorite cakes I have done. I also had the opportunity to deliver the cake and help with the surprise.

I arrived at the VIP event at the Power & Industry Film Independent Film Makers Lounge in Park City with the cake in a box. I waited for Cathy to tell me when the opportune time was to get it out. Cathy had him cover his eyes and when he opened them he was so surprised and amazed with the cake! He said something along the lines of, "We are not eating this, this is amazing!"It was on display for the 4 days in the lounge for all to see.

Thank you Cathy for ordering the cake and for the opportunity to be a part of this great lounge. Please check out my Aunts show Crash Pad

All that you see here is edible, the invitation was printed on edible paper and the film real and the directors snapper is made of gum paste and fondant.

The film is made of edible paper that I airbrushed black and then cut a stencil and added the detail. Also the Power & Industry Logo I cut a stencil and airbrushed it onto the cake.

This is me in front of the classic backdrops that are at media and film events. I noticed after the photo was taken I sort of look like a priest with my white shirt behind my black chefs coat. I will have to make sure I where a black shirt underneath next time!
